(01)What changes

Custom web design versus a template.

It is not a matter of taste. There are five measurable things, and on all five a template starts at a factory-built disadvantage: it inherits decisions made without knowing your business.

01Design

With a template

A bought theme already used by thousands of businesses. Change the logo and the header photo; the grid, the hierarchy and the journey are the same as your direct competitors'.

With our own code

A visual system of its own: typography, grid, colour and rhythm decided for this business and what it needs to achieve. No other website starts from here.

See for yourself in the four cases on this page: none of them look alike.

02Speed

With a template

Twelve plugins, legacy jQuery and a page builder shipping hundreds of kilobytes of CSS the page never uses. Core Web Vitals pick it up, and Google measures them as a ranking factor.

With our own code

Our own code in React and TypeScript, no plugins, no builder and a watched page-weight budget. The HTML arrives already rendered, so the first paint does not wait for JavaScript.

Run nebulacreative.es through pagespeed.web.dev: 93 out of 100 on mobile.

03Experience

With a template

The journey was decided by the theme's author, not your customer. The form ends up wherever it fitted, and mobile is a squashed version of desktop instead of the main screen.

With our own code

The journey is drawn from the business goal (visit, enquiry, customer) and designed mobile first, because that is where most people arrive. Every screen has an obvious next step.

At Infinity Summer, the gallery and the booking live in the same journey: guests never leave for a portal to confirm their stay.

04Local SEO

With a template

An SEO plugin installed and never configured: the same title on every page, headings that are slogans and no sign of which island you are on.

With our own code

Titles, descriptions and headings written page by page around real search intent, structured data, an up-to-date sitemap and the town you work in mentioned where it counts.

Search Console shows 429 clicks and 7.39k impressions for Oceanus Box since launch.

05AI visibility

With a template

The website is built with only Google in mind. When a customer asks ChatGPT or Gemini about a business like yours, the model cannot work out what you do or where, and recommends someone else. Nobody notices, because it never shows up in any analytics.

With our own code

The website is written to be understood by reading it: what the business does, where and what it offers, said the same way on every page and without depending on anything running. AI search engines get in because they are let in, on purpose.

Run nebulacreative.es through our test: it passes all three of Google's AI readability checks.

(02)The cases

Four Gran Canaria businesses, before and after.

Fitness, tourism and industry. No two sectors are alike and none of the websites look like the others. That is exactly the difference between a system of your own and a bought theme.

01FitnessTelde, Gran CanariaWeb design and development

A custom website for a CrossFit box in Las Palmas.

Before

An inherited website that showed off the box but didn't win anyone over: visitors saw photos and timetables, then left with no clear way to book their first trial class.

After

A custom website with the journey drawn towards the trial class and mobile as the main screen. Since launch the team gets far more WhatsApp enquiries and free trials, and classes are noticeably fuller. 98 on Lighthouse from day one.

02TourismTelde, Gran CanariaWeb design and development

Visual web design for holiday apartments in Telde.

Before

No website of their own. Guests only discovered the complex inside Booking or Airbnb, competing on price with a hundred other listings and never seeing the place in its own words.

After

A website of their own with a finely crafted interface, where photography leads every screen and shows apartments, amenities and surroundings before booking. Multilingual, with links to Booking and Airbnb at every step of the journey.

03IndustrialAgüimes, Gran CanariaWebsite + self-managed CMS

Web catalogue and CMS for street furniture in the Canary Islands.

Before

Twenty-five years of products that had outgrown the website, with discontinued items still online and a design overdue for a refresh. An architect or town council looking for a specific utility box ended up phoning to check it still existed.

After

A web catalogue of 480+ products you can browse by category, type and spec sheet, with an indexable URL for every product family and a blog the team publishes from their own CMS without touching code.

04Holiday rentalsTelde, Gran CanariaWebsite + booking engine

Website and online booking for holiday rentals in Gran Canaria.

Before

Guests met each property inside a portal, in whatever photo order the listing chose: pages that opened on a bathroom or a kitchen, and no screen of their own to see the whole place before deciding.

After

A website of their own designed mobile first, with a page for every property, a full-screen gallery and the booking engine built into the same journey, with no detour through a portal to confirm the stay.

(03)Where and for whom

Where and who we work with.

Gran Canaria is our base and where we know best how to rank: Las Palmas, Telde, Agüimes, Santa Lucía, Vecindario and the tourist south, including the many English-speaking businesses there. From here we work across the Canary Islands and, remotely, with clients in mainland Spain, the UK and the rest of Europe. Distance does not change the process; knowing the ground does change local SEO.

  • Fitness and wellbeing
  • Tourism and holiday rentals
  • Hospitality and restaurants
  • Online shops and e-commerce
  • Industry, public works and technical catalogues
  • Local businesses and services
(04)Frequently asked questions

What people ask before we start.

Because a template hands you decisions already made by someone who does not know your business: the structure, the journey and the page weight. We write the code from scratch in React and TypeScript, with no plugins or page builders, and it shows in speed, in rankings and in a website that does not look like your competitors'. If your project genuinely works better on a standard platform, we will tell you.

A brochure website is live 3 to 5 weeks after the brief; projects with integrations or custom features are planned over 8 to 12. We work in sprints with visible progress from the first week. Organic results start to show in the second or third month, and until then we will not put a number on them: at Oceanus Box, what the team says is that far more WhatsApp enquiries have come in since launch and classes are noticeably fuller.

Yes, and it is part of the project, not an extra. Every page gets its own title, description and headings written around the real search intent of your sector and town, plus structured data and HTML served already rendered so Google does not depend on running JavaScript. We work with businesses in Las Palmas, Telde, Agüimes and the south of the island, in English and Spanish.

We build them so they can, which is the part that does depend on us: the text reaches the AI in full without running the page, it is clear what the business does and where, and AI search engines are allowed in. What a model ends up recommending is controlled by nobody, and anyone who says otherwise is selling you smoke. If you already have a website, we measure it before touching anything and give you the result in a report.

The published ones, yes: each case links to the real website when the client already has it public, and for those not yet live we say so rather than showing a mock-up. Every figure on this page comes from real clients and can be checked at the sources we give.

It depends on what is underneath. We audit what you have and tell you which makes more sense, even when it is not the more expensive option. Some websites can be fixed with a layer of performance and content work, and some templates make every improvement cost more than starting again.

Yes. We are in Gran Canaria and work remotely with clients in mainland Spain, the UK and elsewhere in Europe, fully in English. The process is the same: a discovery call, a fixed quote before we start and one point of contact from start to finish.
